What is National Drug Facts Week?
National Drug Facts Week was launched in 2010 by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), part of the National Institutes of Health. To counter act the myths they get from the internet, TV, movies, music, or from friends. NIDA scientists want to stimulate events in communities so teens can learn what science has taught us about drug abuse and addiction.

What happens during National Drug Facts Week?
National Drug Facts Week is an opportunity for teens to shatter the myths about drugs and drug abuse. In community and school events all over America, teens and experts will come together for an honest conversation about how drugs affect the brain, body and behavior.

What does Ennis High School have planned for this week?
During the week of National Drug Facts Week, Ennis High School will be announcing a drug fact (from NIDA) along with the daily morning announcements. On Wednesday, Jan. 28, during each lunch period we will have a table set up where students are able to receive informational brochures on drugs and drug abuse. We will also be giving out “drug free” bracelets and prizes. On National Drug Facts Chat Day (Jan. 30), each advisory class will have the opportunity to log onto the chat as a class/group activity and post their class/group questions. We will have a before/after drug abuse photos banner displayed all week long on both side of the school titled: Drugs+Your Body: It Isn’t Pretty. This banner is to show the students the physical consequences drugs have on your body.
