The Superintendent's Biography

John E. Chapman III is the superintendent of Ennis ISD. He began his teaching/coaching career in Lubbock, Texas where he received his master’s degree from Wayland Baptist University in Mid-Management with a principal’s certification. He has served as assistant principal (K-12 grade), junior high principal and high school principal. He received his first superintendent position at Chillicothe ISD. The district was also named one of the Best Districts in the Nation by the U.S. News and World Report. In 2007, he was named the lone finalist at Comfort ISD. During his tenure in Comfort, he won the Gifted and Talented Administrator of the Year award. While in Comfort, he received his Doctor of Education degree from Texas Tech University in Educational Leadership. Comfort Board of Trustees nominated Dr. Chapman as the superintendent of the year twice. In 2013, he was named Superintendent of the Year for Region 13 and Superintendent of the Year State Finalist (top 5 out of 1033 superintendents). On January 24, 2014, he began his superintendent duties at Ennis ISD. Dr. Chapman is honored to have worked with so many outstanding educators, and looks forward to leading Ennis ISD to new heights.
