Ag Teams Come Up Big at State Fair

Our Ag Mechanics and EHS FFA Teams recently competed at the State Fair of Texas.

Joseph Valek, a senior at EHS, won the inaugural Individual Sweepstakes Award. This was introduced at the fair this year and Joseph will have bragging rights to say that he won the 1st competition ever at the State Fair of Texas. Ishmael Leal also competed in this contest and he came home 5th overall.

Joseph also won his class and the overall division in the Ag Machinery/Equipment Division with a Pull-Behind Log Splitter.

Fabian Guerrero, Jay Chapman, Justin Mraz, and Joseph Valek had a 1st in class and a reserve division on a BBQ Smokehouse entry in the Outdoor/Recreational Division.

Jay Chapman represented well with a 42" octagon fire pit project, where he brought home another blue ribbon.

Ishmael Leal had a class winning project with a beautiful curio cabinet made in the EHS Wood Shop under the direction of teacher, Mark Roman.

Salvador Velazquez, Hector Velazquez, and Caesar De Los Santos received 3rd place with an outdoor table set in another woodworking class.

Ray Perez and Jason Elliott placed 2nd in class with a custom front and rear bumper set that they built completely from scratch in the Auto-Tech Shop at EHS.
