Chief Jeremy Scruggs #701

Chief Scruggs is located at Ennis High School.  Chief Scruggs is a graduate of Athens High School and the East Texas Police Academy.  Chief Scruggs began his law enforcement career in 1998, serving as a Detention Officer and later Detention Sergeant until 2002.  In 2002, Chief Scruggs began his police career with the Gun Barrel City Police Department and later on Jacksonville Police Department. In 2006, Chief Scruggs became employed with the Corsicana ISD Police Department where he held the position of Police Officer, Police Sergeant and Assistant Chief of Police. Chief Scruggs also served Corsicana ISD as an Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach/ Goalkeeper Coordinator for 4 years. Chief Scruggs became employed as the Chief of Police at Ennis ISD on April 3, 2017. Chief Scruggs currently holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate, School Based Law Enforcement Officer certificate, Firearm Instructor, Patrol Rifle Instructor and SWAT certifications from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).  Chief Scruggs is also a Basic Physical Defense Instructor through Rape Aggression Defense Systems (RAD).  Chief Scruggs is a certified trainer of the Standard Response Protocol.  Chief Scruggs is a member of the Texas School District Police Chiefs’ Association, Texas Police Chiefs’ Association, and the Texas Municipal Police Association.  Chief Scruggs currently serves as the Region 3 director of the Texas School District Police Chiefs’ Association.
