I am very excited about being named the assistant principal of Jack Lummus Intermediate. This is the beginning of my twenty-fourth year in education, with eighteen of those years in Ennis ISD. I spent 18 years in the classroom teaching 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. For the past five years, I have been an Instructional Coach at Sam Houston Elementary, Travis Elementary, and Austin Elementary.
I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I received my Master of Education in Teacher Leadership from Lamar University, where I am finishing my Principal Certification as well.
My husband, Jim, and I are proud parents of three children. Our oldest son, Brody, graduated from Ennis High School and is an artillery specialist in the Army. Our youngest are twins, Beau and Lainie, who will be entering Ennis High School this year.
Since my first year of teaching, I have had a sign in my room that truly sums up my philosophy in education. "You have to reach the HEART before you can reach the HEAD!" Once a student feels you care about them, they will work hard, grow, and believe in their dreams. Creating a partnership with our students’ families will further strengthen the relationship and enhance students’ learning. Together we can help them develop to their fullest potential and become productive citizens in their community.
